Journey To The Cloud

For every business, the journey to the cloud is a unique one. As levels of adoption differ, so too does the way in which enterprises move their applications into the cloud.

The journey to the cloud chart to the right compares overall use of different business applications against the degree to which respondents are placing specific applications into the cloud. Every business surveyed had at least some degree of cloud experience. This shows that applications that are more widely used by businesses are also more likely to be placed in the cloud.

To bring some much-needed unity to that picture, each of the applications cited can also be housed in one of three categories; Software as a Service, Platform as a Service or Infrastructure as a Service. As you’ll see from the chart, adoption across these three categories is distributed fairly evenly.
