Asia Pacific Land (Japan) Limited

How one company consolidated all of their global corporate infrastructure under a single Colt service umbrella for data centre, connectivity, and voice services

About APL

Asia Pacific Land (APL) is a privately owned real estate investment, development, and asset management firm. It was established in 1994 and operates in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai and Shenyang. Our acquisition team is led by a group of real estate investment experts with rich experience hand-picked from some of Asia’s most elite enterprises. They focus on identifying new deals, conducting market research and selecting good investment opportunities. Most of our assets have been acquired through negotiated transactions born through the good business relationships we’ve built up in the APAC region. These relationships have generated many opportunities for us and aided us in executing complex transactions swiftly and successfully. Our core acquisition strategies are based on careful selection and execution with an eye on long-term cash flow, yield analysis, and profitability.

Our business challenge

Among the main challenges we faced regarding infrastructure were the lack of an adequate server environment and a shortage of physical server space. Compounding that issue was the fact that there was only one IT support rep covering both domestic and international offices. This created situations, for example, where non-IT staff was performing tape backups. To improve the situation and make better use of our human resources, we focused on finding a vendor capable of managing the entire corporate infrastructure and fulfilling the four requirements we laid out below.

  1. One-stop installation and management of IT at both our domestic and international offices
  2. Global solutions and management of the entire corporate infrastructure
  3. Quality security that meets the standards of the financial industry
  4. Consultation regarding optimization of existing networks

Why Colt

After comparing multiple vendors, Colt was the only one that could meet all four of our needs. Furthermore, Colt was able to provide local bilingual support for overseas offices. We were able to significantly reduce costs and optimize our operations by having network, data, and voice services all integrated on the same platform.

Future Plans

Security and operational issues have prevented us from integrating a few remaining global offices. We plan to proceed with and complete that integration with Colt’s support. We see Colt as a reliable partner in supporting our business and maintaining superior service quality.

Colt Ethernet Line / Hub & Spoke Service is optimised for not only financial market participants requiring low latency connectivity to trading venues, but also for other industry sectors requiring the highest quality Ethernet services for cloud applications and enterprise networks. This service focuses on creating synergy between cloud and data centres by providing higher bandwidth, while maintaining Colt’s strengths in the financial sector through premium quality, high reliability, and ultra-low latency.

By consolidating all the IT infrastructure we need for our global operations with a single vendor in Colt, we’ve been able to maximize efficiency. We’re getting maximum performance out of our corporate systems and reducing managerial labor. With Colt’s robust IT infrastructure, I believe that APL will be able to run our global business with speed and security.M.
