Colt leadership in Ethernet Services confirmed at MEF EMEA Awards

London, 20th September 2012

Colt Technology Services has received four MEF awards presented at Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Barcelona in the categories: Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application – both Online Business and Professional Services Business verticals, Best Marketing and the overall Regional Service Provider of the Year. The awards were judged by a panel of top industry analysts and confirm Colt’s leadership in Ethernet services and the strength of its pioneering Ethernet services portfolio. This is the eighth consecutive year that Colt has collected MEF awards, an unprecedented achievement at these prestigious industry awards.

Colt beat service providers from around Europe to win these awards following a number of recent enhancements to Colt’s Ethernet capabilities. These include the launch of 10Gbps Ethernet E-NNI* which has been available across Colt’s European footprint since February 2012. This is an ideal wholesale access solution for carriers and other providers seeking an efficient, scalable means of reaching their customers or access backhaul with NNI interfaces.

Nan Chen, President, MEF, commented: “Colt demonstrated innovation, leading edge technology and customer benefits to achieve success in all three award categories, as well as in achieving the top EMEA services provider of the year award. The MEF is pleased to recognise the continued innovation of Service Providers like Colt in accelerating the adoption of Carrier Ethernet services. These awards are recognition of Colt’s achievements in the marketplace.”

Developments to Colt’s access pricing and ordering tools and the new graphical eXplore mapping tool have greatly improved the automation behind provisioning and delivery of its Ethernet Services. Colt now has a standard price list for Ethernet Services to off-net locations via partner coverage, including Eastern Europe. These tools quickly show the availability of services to required locations along with pricing and SLA information.

Henry Bohannon, Head of Ethernet &IP Services at Colt, commented: “It has been an exciting year in terms of our wholesale Ethernet capability and we are very proud to be recognised for this. Since the launch of the 10Gbps Ethernet E-NNI we have delivered many new interconnects with multiple E-Access services and the number of Wholesale Ethernet E-NNIs in service has increased considerably over the last year. It is great to see this market appetite for our Ethernet services across Europe and we look forward to further innovating the portfolio in line with our customer needs.”
