Colt wins MEF Awards for the seventh consecutive year

Colt, Europe’s leading information delivery platform, was today awarded the Metro Ethernet Forum’s (MEF) top honour, the ‘Service Provider of the Year – EMEA’, presented at Carrier Ethernet World Congress. Colt also received the ‘Best Business Ethernet Service’ award. This confirms Colt’s leadership in Ethernet services and the strength of its pioneering Ethernet services portfolio. This is the seventh consecutive year that Colt has collected an MEF award, an unprecedented achievement at these prestigious industry awards.

Colt beat service providers from around Europe to win these awards for its broad Ethernet services portfolio which provide scalable and flexible solutions to support ever-increasing bandwidth and flexibility demand from European business. These awards follow a number of new developments in Colt’s Ethernet capabilities, its automated supporting tools and expanded geographical reach.

Colt’s business Ethernet services now include further holistic hybrid networking solutions capabilities, through its managed networking solution and the deployment of the seamless combination of Colt’s E-PN (Ethernet Private Network) and IP VPN services. Simultaneously, Colt has improved the automation behind provisioning and delivery of Ethernet Services with, for example, further developments in its access pricing and ordering tools within Colt’s wholesale customer self-service online portal. These tools quickly show the availability of services to required locations, along with pricing and SLA information. This provides Colt’s customers with faster presales, decision making and order handling processes.

Colt has also extended the reach and availability of its Ethernet Services by recently joining the Equinix Carrier Ethernet Exchange. This gives customers more access to its Ethernet services across Europe as this complements the company’s multiple E-NNI interconnections with selected partners. Colt has also extended the reach of its integrated network and compute services within city areas by deploying Ethernet First Mile across 12 countries, offering small and medium businesses and branch offices of enterprises with a smart complement to fibre or traditional DSL with up to 40Mbps bandwidth on copper pair.

Colt’s Chief Technology Officer, Luke Broome commented: “We are very proud to be recognised again for delivering innovative Ethernet services across Europe. A strong Ethernet capability is central to developing our information delivery platform for European businesses and helps us to build and develop our integrated network and compute solutions.”
