Colt launches Cloud Infrastructure Services to deliver IT flexibility while reducing costs

Colt, a leading European provider of business communications and managed services, has today announced the launch of its Cloud Infrastructure Services, a portfolio of services designed to bring the benefits of cloud flexibility to enterprise users. The Colt Cloud Infrastructure Services portfolio provides business customers with a combination of dedicated, virtual and shared infrastructure. It also offers storage for the systems within the Cloud Infrastructure, with several storage classes on offer to meet varying customer requirements.

Cloud Infrastructure Services reduces the capital expenditure burdens that accompany IT infrastructure asset ownership and enables customers to mitigate risk while simultaneously improving cash flow in their business. The transition from owned assets to cloud-based services gives customers the ability to access and utilise the right skill sets and technical expertise without having to rely on overstretched internal IT resources.

As part of the Cloud Infrastructure Services, Colt also provides proactive performance and capability monitoring of devices to minimise bottlenecks or storage capacity shortages. This monitoring portal provides an easy-to-view dashboard with a range of reporting functions for continuous monitoring and analysis of service performance. Managed security systems with firewall policy options are also provided, along with load balancers and infrastructure combinations from leading hardware and software vendors.

Maggy McClelland, Managing Director of Colt Managed Services said: “Customers need both flexibility and certainty in their business. We have ensured that our Cloud Infrastructure Services address key CIO business issues – namely managing business risk, improving service and reducing costs. This is achieved by scaling from small to large servers, by providing secure access via Colt private networking and/or the internet and by monitoring services 24x7x365. We can tailor our cloud services to specific customer requirements and port existing production applications to a cloud environment. This combines the benefits of cost reduction and scalability, with the assurance of enterprise-class managed services.”

This is the second announcement in Colt’s range of cloud services, following its launch of managed workspace in July 2009.

Colt’s managed services solutions are built on its infrastructure combining 25,000km of network and 19 data centres across Europe. This footprint enables Colt to take full end-to-end responsibility for the security, availability and continuity of IT processes and computing capability. Colt’s service level agreements are aligned to the customer’s business and tailored towards service delivery, not the technology. The company’s enterprise cloud platform enables Colt to deliver services that give its customers the freedom to choose when and how to take advantage of managed infrastructure and application services as well as increased flexibility to drive greater levels of business efficiency, security and performance.
