COLT wins end-to-end managed services contract with Sdu Uitgevers N.V

COLT, a leading European provider of business communications, has been awarded a new 10 million Euro contract by Sdu Uitgevers N.V. This five year deal will see COLT providing the Netherlands’ leading print and online publishing company with virtualisation and data centre services as part of a holistic managed services solution that addresses the company’s business critical needs. Today’s announcement further establishes COLT as a key player in the managed services market.

As part of the agreement with COLT, Sdu Uitgevers will migrate its existing Den Haag based data centre to COLT’s Amsterdam data centre whilst also transferring more than 450 applications into a new virtualised environment. As a result, Sdu Uitgevers will benefit from a faster time to market, optimisation of its IT infrastructure, enhancement of its IT security and improved regulatory compliance.

Maggy McClelland, Managing Director of COLT Managed Services says, “COLT’s expertise has enabled us to deliver virtualisation technology on top of our traditional data centre offering to Sdu Uitgevers. This contract demonstrates our commitment to, and experience in, taking end-to-end responsibility for the security, availability and continuity of scalable IT processes and computing for large organisations across Europe.”

Ed Schravesande, Sales Director, Major Enterprise Division for COLT in the Netherlands adds, “During this competitive tender process, the COLT team listened closely to the unique needs of Sdu Uitgevers and created a solution that delivers on-demand, business critical services where they are most needed. With virtualisation technology in place, Sdu Uitgevers no longer has to worry about the operating costs and software upgrades that are usually associated with managing multiple applications across a large organisation.”

Jos van Leeuwen, Director Operations, Sdu Uitgevers, says, “We were very impressed with COLT’s integral approach to our needs assessment and the offered solution. Our decision to award them the contract was based on our belief that because COLT owned the network infrastructure and assets, they were able to offer scalable ‘best in class’ managed services solutions specific to our current and future business needs. A future proof IT environment is a keystone in realizing the goals of our online strategy. With COLT responsible for managing our back-office IT and communications infrastructure, Sdu Uitgevers can focus on its core business of providing information through newspapers and magazines, professional journals, books, webservices and digital newsletters.”

COLT’s wide range of end-to-end managed services and IT infrastructure solutions cater for the diverse needs of companies in the finance, professional services, media and public sectors. By leveraging its network and data centre assets, COLT offers enterprise cloud-based managed services that can deliver faster time to market, lower IT costs, and enhance security and compliance. Doing so will help alleviate the CIO’s business critical IT issues including business transformation, infrastructure flexibility, cost reduction and risk mitigation.

COLT’s managed services solutions are built on its infrastructure combining 25,000km of network and 18 data centres across Europe. This footprint enables COLT to take full end-to-end responsibility for the security, availability and continuity of IT processes and computing capability. COLT’s service level agreements are aligned to the customer’s business and tailored towards service delivery, not the technology.
