COLT wins Ethernet Expo award for Service Provider of the Year – Best Product Portfolio

COLT, a leading European provider of business communications, has won Light Reading’s prestigious Ethernet Expo Europe award for ‘Service Provider of the Year – Best Product Portfolio’. The judges highlighted COLT’s broad range of Ethernet services and its rounded offer encompassing SME, Major Enterprise and Wholesale customer segments as key factors in its success.

The award was presented at Ethernet Expo Europe event in London which assembled dozens of experts from the service provider, supplier, and analyst communities to explore the hottest trends in the market.

“We are very proud to win this award which reflects the investment COLT is making to help customers realise the benefits from Ethernet networking,” said Dr Alireza Mahmoodshahi, Chief Technology Officer at COLT. “The deployment of our Next Generation Ethernet platform across Europe, our Global Reach capability to the USA and interconnects with other carriers are initiatives that have kept COLT’s product portfolio at the forefront of innovation."

Continuing its leadership in this market, at Ethernet Expo COLT participated with Iometrix, ntl:Telewest and Light Reading to stage the industry’s first Global Interconnect Demonstration of high definition video between London and Frankfurt in order to demonstrate how industry collaboration brings greater flexibility to enterprise customers.

COLT, a four time winner of the Metro Ethernet Forum’s European Service Provider of the year award, has also made a series of developments to its Ethernet services in the last year including deploying the latest Carrier Ethernet technology as the basis for its next generation network – Multi Service Platform (MSP) – and ‘Ethernet in the First Mile’ technology, offering customers who depend on copper connections a higher-speed, ‘fibre-like’ service at unbundled exchanges in 12 countries. Other developments include COLT’s Global Reach capability which has extended its COLT-grade Ethernet portfolio to key cities in the USA.
