Steve Alexander - Senior VP and CTO - Ciena

Steve Alexander, Senior VP & CTO, Ciena

Steve is an IEEE Fellow and is a recipient of the IEEE Communications Society Industrial Innovation Award. He is a member of the Board of Governors of 5G Americas and a member of the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Telecom Industry Solutions (ATIS). He received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has been granted 23 patents.

Jim Carnes, Chief Security Architect, Ciena

Jim is responsible for evaluating emerging threats and trends in IT security and determining which next-generation security capabilities will be integrated into Ciena’s products and services. Jim holds a M.S. from Johns Hopkins University in IT and Telecommunications, as well as a B.S. in Information Systems with a focus on Cyber Forensics. He holds the CISSP certification from ISC2, the GICSP, a certification on industrial control systems, and the GPEN and C|EH penetration testing certifications. He is also a professor for UMBC and AACC.

Ashish Surti, Chief Information Security Officer, Colt

Ash is responsible for Colt’s overall information and cybersecurity strategy and execution. He also holds responsibilities for physical security, business continuity, voice fraud and lawful intercept. Ashish is a highly respected security expert with over 20 years’ experience in the field, primarily in the financial sector. Before joining Colt, he served as TSB Bank’s first CISO. He has also held senior positions at Aviva and Direct Line Group, where he managed award-winning security teams.
