My dad told me that there’s always someone watching you, so whatever you do, try your best and put in the most effort possible, because you don’t know what could happen. I used to do a lot of dance and theatre, and sometimes you think just because you’re in the second row of the chorus that no-one is watching you. But think about all the people in the theatre – not everyone is going to watch the main character the whole time. You may be at the back but someone in that room will see you.

It’s happened to me a few times in my life, and one of those times ended in me working at Colt. I was working on the front desk of a hotel, managing reservations, and one of the VPs was staying there for a while. He would see me every day, doing about a thousand things at once whilst, and after about six months he said, ‘ok you have to come and work for me.’ That was eight years ago now, and it was an amazing change in my life. My dad was right.
