Announcing our 2018 UK Charity Partner: Richard House Children’s Hospice

The Colt UK Corporate Social Responsibility Committee is proud to announce that it has decided to team up with Richard House Children’s Hospice to be its UK Charity Fundraising Partner for 2018.

In the UK, it is estimated that there are more than 40,000 children who are living with a life limiting illness. That equates to roughly one in every 313 individuals under the age of 19. There are only a handful of hospices to support these children and their families in London, and one of these hospices is Richard House Children’s Hospice in Beckton, East London.

Richard House supports children and their families to lead as happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. As a charity, the services provided are free of charge to the families who they support, and the vast majority of their funding is thanks to the generosity of the public.

From the beginning of April, Colt employees in the UK will have the opportunity to fundraise for Richard House, as well as using their two Colt-sponsored volunteering days for activities in conjunction with the hospice. Opportunities open to employees include; supporting hospice events, undertaking retail challenges, and gardening and maintenance tasks.

The Richard House team recently visited Colt House to give the UK CSR committee an overview of what the fundraising efforts would support, and to highlight how significant a partnership this would be for them in terms of reaching their goals.

Kathryn Elvin, one of the Corporate Partnership Officers at Richard House said: “This year Richard House needs to raise more than £3 million to be able to continue to provide clinical, therapeutic, and residential care to life-limited children and young adults. Being chosen by the UK CSR Committee as their fundraising partner for 2018 is going to be brilliant for us, and enable us to continue to provide specialist care to those who need it”.

“The UK CSR Committee have already started working in partnership with us to put together an exciting calendar of events for their employees in the UK to engage with, and we will be working closely with them to make them as successful as possible”.

Alina Kovalcsuk, UK CSR Lead at Colt added: “Throughout the course of 2018, UK Colties will be undertaking various fundraising challenges, culminating with nearly 40 UK based employees joining with others from around the world in cycling from Milan to Rome as part of the annual Colt Charity Bike Ride. We are delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause, and excited to begin our fundraising efforts with them”.
