Music is essential to me. Every day I wake up listening to music, and it’s the last thing I do at night. It’s a way to express myself and channel my energy – it’s an organic expression of how I feel. When I was growing up, two or three of my friend at school loved to sing, and I remember being in the car with them, singing like we were in a rock band.
Maybe it’s a Colombian thing – I don’t think they have this anymore, but when I was young, they used to play music on the buses. I used to take the bus to university for an hour and a half, and there was this loud salsa music playing the whole way. Perhaps I was meant to be a musician, but somehow I ended up as a lawyer. It’s never too late, who knows? Maybe I’ll find time to join a band.
