Colt and Oracle expand Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect capabilities in the Netherlands

New cloud interconnect will make easier the on-going cloud migrations of enterprises globally with high bandwidth and on-demand connectivity to Oracle Cloud

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 26 June 2020 –  Colt Technology Services, a leading provider of agile, high bandwidth connectivity solutions, and a Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), today announced the availability of dedicated and on-demand access to Oracle Cloud Infrastracture (OCI) in Amsterdam through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect provides dedicated connectivity to Oracle’s Cloud services. This dedicated connectivity gives enterprises in the Netherlands (and surrounding countries) that need high bandwidth and low latency connectivity to Oracle Cloud a more reliable and consistent networking experience, as compared to public internet-based connections.

Colt has now further expanded its enterprise offering by connecting into two dedicated Oracle PoPs in Amsterdam, at  both Equinix and Interxion data centres, allowing its enterprise customers to take full advantage of on-demand, high-speed, secure connectivity from their on-premise data centre sites to Oracle Cloud. Enterprises will benefit from Colt’s unique, purpose-built, intelligent network, optimised for the cloud and supporting  connectivity to and from 10 Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), 6,400+ connected enterprise buildings and 202 connected data centres in Belgium, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

This follows recent announcements that Colt is expanding its partnership with Oracle by supporting agile, secure, high bandwidth enterprise connectivity to OCI via its Dedicated Cloud Access and On Demand portfolios  in London, Frankfurt and Tokyo.

In addition, Colt has further extended its connectivity into Rotterdam and Amsterdam, ensuring the Colt IQ Network covers the main cloud aggregation points in the region. By  further densifying the Colt IQ Network in the Dutch cities with the largest concentration of enterprise digital ecosystems, Colt can better serve the global connectivity needs of local and multinational companies headquartered in the country.

Enterprises can therefore move  their on-premise, mission-critical workloads  by leveraging the best of Oracle’s enterprise cloud platform, and the best of Colt’s intelligent network. The addition of this new location, combined with Colt’s On Demand services for OCI, will now help a greater number of enterprises move to the cloud faster, more securely and more successfully, leveraging Colt’s On Demand portal to self-provision connectivity to OCI in real time, flex bandwidth requirements up and down quickly, and pay only for the bandwidth consumed.

Colt and Oracle announced their FastConnect relationship in October 2018 and today, through further collaboration, Oracle customers can now benefit from reliable high bandwidth access to their Oracle Cloud data and applications globally via the Colt IQ Network.

Omar Maalikoum, Head of Sales Netherlands, Colt Technology Services said: “Amsterdam is a strategic European data centre hub and enterprises in the Netherlands are increasingly connected across Europe. They therefore require a highly performing and reliable global connectivity ecosystem. Colt’s continuous investment in its network and services has been widely recognised as a driving force within the market. With the expansion of our relationship with Oracle, enteprises will be able to migrate and run mission-critical enterprise workloads across our best-in-class network to Oracle’s leading enteprise Cloud platform, reducing customer Total Time to Value, and realising a faster, optimal return on investment.”

“Connectivity lies at the heart of today’s enterprises, whether they are currently undergoing digital transformation or are already digital natives. We have known for some time that the demand for connectivity isn’t slowing down and we are confident that our collaboration with Colt can help meet this demand and continue to enable enterprise digital transformations. By expanding our relationship with Colt, we expand our digital ecosystem to enable more organisations in the Netherlands to benefit from our FastConnect service in Amsterdam,” said Vinay Kumar, vice president, product management, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Connecting to Oracle Cloud with Colt’s On Demand service and FastConnect is a quick and easy way to start running workloads. Oracle Cloud FastConnect and Colt On Demand is a solution that gives enterprise customers the performance, compatibility and security they require to run their most demanding workloads in cloud, and easily connect them with the workloads they continue to run in their own data centres.

Oracle’s second-generation cloud is built and optimised specifically to help enterprises run their most demanding workloads securely. With unique architecture and capabilities, Oracle Cloud delivers unmatched security, performance, and cost savings. Oracle’s Generation 2 Cloud is the only one built to run autonomous services, including Oracle Autonomous Linux and Oracle Autonomous Database, the industry’s first and only self-driving database. Oracle Cloud offers a comprehensive cloud computing portfolio, from application development and business analytics to data management, integration, security, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain.
