Colt Wins MEF Ethernet Excellence for 10th year
London, 19 November 2014 – Colt Technology Services, the leading information delivery platform, has been recognised as an industry leader in Ethernet services by winning six categories in the prestigious Metro Ethernet Forum’s (MEF) Ethernet Excellence Awards 2014. This is the tenth consecutive year that Colt has received recognition at the awards ceremony which is a significant achievement in this highly competitive marketplace.
Colt has won awards in the following six categories:
Best Application of the Year – two awards for the “Finance” and “Information Technology” categories
Best Application of the Year recognises the most innovative application or highest profile application that benefits from the use of Carrier Ethernet services with preference given to implementations of Carrier Ethernet 2.0 services.
Retail Service Provider of the Year – EMEA
Regional Retail Service Provider of the Year awards were given to those providers who best implement CE 2.0 retail services and other retail services in the region.
Wholesale Service Provider of the Year – EMEA
This award recognises the provider who best takes advantage of the CE 2.0 access and interconnect work to create Carrier Ethernet networks for their customers within EMEA.
Best Technology of the Year – Best vendor integration
This was awarded to the system, software or service that best implements systems that integrate multiple vendor solution into a complete Provider or end-user solution.
Best Service of the Year – EMEA
This award recognises the best Carrier Ethernet compliant service offered within EMEA.

A number of enhancements to Colt’s Ethernet services led to MEF success in 2014. The company launched its new SDN enabled Modular-MSP platform across Europe delivering scalability (service bandwidths from 2Mbps to 10Gbps) and greater automation in service configuration, delivery and assurance. Industry leading service delivery lead-times of 15 days for on-net sites and a 24 hour rapid bandwidth upgrade were also introduced during the year.
Colt has also continued to expand its Ethernet footprint by establishing fibre connectivity to a range of new Key Business Sites, Data Centres and business premises across its pan European network infrastructure. Additionally, the geographic reach of its services was extended through the establishment of 19 new partner E-NNIs and the upgrade of a number of existing E-NNIs to 10Gbps.
