Congratulations to all the top women in telco and tech

Last week I was privileged enough to attend the first-ever Global Women in Telco and Tech Awards, which was hosted by Capacity Media.
The event saw 150 attend, celebrating those women and even men in our industry who champion and support women in the wider sector.
While I didn’t walk away with an award; watching the winners last night, I couldn’t help but be reminded of my favourite comic book growing up – Wonder Woman.
I loved Wonder Woman as a young girl and wanted to be just like her. I had her lasso, her shield, her wrist cuffs. I thought these material things were what made her fantastic. I was too young to understand that her strength came from what was within.
All of the women who were recognised last night are wonder women in their own right. Now I didn’t see any of them walking around with shields, but these female leaders of our industry all have had to be fearless, had perseverance and also a powerful self-belief.
But we all have the power to champion change in our industry. Whether it be increasing our representation in the C-suite or helping the next generation of fearless women as they enter the workforce. Taking time to talk to those still in school about science, technology and math and making sure all voices within our organisations are heard today – so we can start moving towards creating a truly diverse workplace.
All my congratulations to the winners from last night and to all of those fighting for parity and diversity in your organisation; in the words of wonder woman:
“You are stronger than you believe and you have greater powers than you know”.
