I remember walking in to the student centre one day at university and seeing the Colt stand. The representatives seemed energetic and friendly, so I came over to see what was going on, and they mentioned the international opportunities at Colt as well as the fact that you can complete your CIMA qualifications over the course of the graduate scheme. I went and applied straight away.
I started out as an Associate Financial Analyst in London and in my second year, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to move to Tokyo to work as an Analyst for Asia. I went with two graduates from Marketing – naturally, we became really good friends out there. We had Japanese lessons every week and at the end of the year, I was able to report the company’s financial statements to the whole office in Japanese. It was nerve-wracking, but something that I’m really proud of. My mentor out there gave me some great advice: he told me to always put my hand up for things, to go out there and gain specialist knowledge so that you can be someone that people turn to. I have that with Japan now – I have great connections in the office there so now that I’m back in London, I can be that link for my colleagues.
