Meet Sangeeta Singh, who’s a Senior Technical lead and has been a Coltie for five years.
Although many companies pay lip service to diversity, equality and inclusion initiatives, Sangeeta believes that equality is ‘absolutely genuine’ at Colt.
Being a woman here has never been a disadvantage in her career, something she was concerned about when she joined us, as she was pregnant at the time. Instead, she’s had the opportunity to be the main lead on a range of complex, high-value projects, and her commitment was recognised when she was given a best performance award just two months after returning from maternity leave.
Sangeeta says that the career opportunities at Colt have been ‘next level’, with her supportive managers helping drive two promotions in under five years and encouraging her to keep up with new skills. Her ability to co-ordinate and collaborate with different global teams has been critical in her role, as she’s the self-professed ‘end point’ of the process to deliver what the customer needs.
The focus on work-life balance at Colt has suited Sangeeta, as our Flexible First policy gives her valuable opportunities to spend time with her young children. Her friends and family are often amazed at the trust that’s put in her to work the way that suits her while still giving her best.
Sangeeta has seen real growth in the number of women in technology at Colt in the last five years. An unbiased environment and the ‘we’ve got your back’ approach of her colleagues have been central to helping her grow – but she believes that the benefits go both ways, as women’s emotional intelligence adds great value to their work.
