One of the biggest decisions of my life was choosing whether to go to university or not. At the end of college, I knew that I wanted to move straight into the world of work and start gaining experience as soon as possible, but there was a lot of pressure to do otherwise. My college told me that getting a degree was the best option and most of my friends were applying to university, but it just didn’t feel right for me.
It wasn’t easy going against what was considered the ‘normal’ path, but my parents encouraged me to follow what I was interested in and take the risk. I’m so glad I did. Joining the Colt apprenticeship scheme has been an amazing experience and I’m proud I made the decision to not go to university. I’ve also now secured myself a permanent position in the Capital Markets Solutions team, delivering bespoke solutions to our customers and handling end user reports.
As well as supporting me in my decisions, my family has taught me to throw myself into opportunities and do everything to the best of my ability. With 18 months experience already behind me, I’m excited to build on my apprenticeship, learn more, develop further and get stuck into this new challenge at Colt.
