GI Group turns to Colt to gain reliability in its connections

About Gi Group Holding

Founded over 25 years ago and present in more than 30 countries, Gi Group Holding is a global leader in HR services. With more than 8,000 employees worldwide and revenues exceeding $5 billion in 2024, the company manages thousands of job placements every month. In Spain alone, Gi Group employs 450 people across 32 offices.

People are at the heart of Gi Group’s business—helping them improve their working lives and enter the job market. To support these operations, which rely on constant communication with clients and colleagues, the company needs fast and reliable connections.

The Challenge

The core of Gi Group’s business is people—helping them improve their working lives and enter the job market. To support these operations, the company relies on constant communication with clients and internal teams. This requires fast and reliable connectivity.

Gerardo García Arnedo, Chief Information and Technology Officer at Gi Group Holding Spain, explains:

“We needed to guarantee our users a more robust and reliable fibre service. At times, the signal wasn’t as stable as required, causing occasional interruptions. This was especially important for me, as I have weekly video calls with colleagues in other countries, and during peak usage these issues became noticeable.”

The Solution

To address these challenges, Gi Group Holding Spain partnered with Colt to implement two IP Access lines at key sites in Madrid and Zaragoza. The goal was to eliminate outages and latency during high-demand periods. Online meetings between employees in different offices and countries, as well as video calls with candidates, partners, and suppliers, are essential to Gi Group’s operations.

The company initially tried solutions such as adding antennas and amplifying signals but concluded that increasing bandwidth and implementing point-to-point connectivity was the best approach. Colt’s IP Access service provided the reliability and performance needed.

Results

The improvements were immediate:

“With Colt, the connection experience has improved significantly—calls and browsing are now much smoother and more stable. This has allowed us to work with greater productivity and efficiency, without interruptions affecting our daily operations,” says García Arnedo.

Gi Group’s IT operations revolve around its data centre in Italy, making connection quality critical. The company uses global systems such as CRMs, ATS (Applicant Tracking System), and Workforce Management for payroll, requiring high bandwidth and reliability.

“Ultimately, what we need is speed, bandwidth, and above all, reliability,” García Arnedo adds.

Looking Ahead

Gi Group Holding Spain is considering implementing SD WAN to connect multiple sites, although decisions will align with the group’s global security strategy. García Arnedo concludes:

“After evaluating several solutions, we chose Colt mainly for its reliability, security, and service guarantee. Colt gave us greater confidence, so we decided to go with this trusted solution.”
