Contract

Colt was awarded Lot 2 – Data Transmission Services –achieving the highest score in the evaluation process.

The decision was based on the strength of Colt’s owned infrastructure, its ability to ensure high availability, security and performance, as well as its proven experience in critical environments and compliance with the most stringent public sector standards.

The contract establishes Colt as a strategic technology partner for ISDEFE in critical public sector environments.

Challenge

ISDEFE required a secure, resilient and high-performance connection between its primary data centre (DC) in Madrid and an external backup site.

Key challenges included:

• Ensuring full replication of critical services without impacting end users
• Maintaining 24/7 availability of essential systems
• Minimising any disruption to the production environment
• Providing independent internet connectivity at the backup site
• Enabling rapid recovery in the event of incidents affecting the primary data centre

Solution

Colt delivered a dedicated, secure and high-performance connectivity solution built on its own infrastructure:

• Two point-to-point ethernet links over dedicated fibre, providing 10 Gbps full-duplex capacity, ensuring 100% bandwidth availability at the optical layer
• Dedicated infrastructure exclusively for ISDEFE, supported by Colt’s owned fibre network
• An independent internet transit service with 1 Gbps symmetrical, guaranteed bandwidth
• Service delivery in accordance with IEEE 802.3ab standards, with certified cabling compliant with ISO/IEC 11801

Ingeniería de Sistemas para la Defensa de España (ISDEFE) is a public company attached to the Spanish Ministry of Defence, acting as an in-house service provider to the General State Administration.
