Colt announces major Metro infrastructure build in Frankfurt to fuel hyperscale Cloud and AI growth

200km of new duct infrastructure in the Frankfurt metropolitan area strategically deployed to address rising connectivity requirements

Frankfurt, 17 February 2026 - Colt Technology Services (Colt), the global digital infrastructure company, today announced a major investment programme to extend its metro infrastructure in Frankfurt and Berlin, reinforcing its leadership in the German market and wider European Hyperscale and NeoScale sector. The build will deliver approximately 200 kilometres of new duct and fibre assets in the Frankfurt metro area, purposefully designed to support accelerating demand from Cloud and AI platforms and Hyperscale customers.

This large-scale expansion will connect Colt’s network directly into the new generation of data centres being constructed outside Frankfurt, providing infrastructure at scale to these key new sites. The investment demonstrates Colt’s long-term commitment to owning and shaping the digital infrastructure market underpinning Cloud and AI demand in Europe’s most strategically important digital hubs.

Frankfurt is widely recognised as Europe’s primary interconnection capital, home to the world’s largest internet exchange and having one of the highest concentrations of hyperscale and carrier-neutral data centres on the continent - a natural focus for Colt’s next phase of growth, given its unparalleled infrastructure assets and data centre connectivity of any carrier.

Joe Scattareggia, EVP – Infrastructure and Connectivity, Colt Technology Services, said, “Cloud and AI are redefining metro networks. By adding 200 kilometres of fibre in Frankfurt, we’re scaling into the data centres that will drive the next decade of growth. With leading hyperscalers already on our network, Colt is investing in its exceptional infrastructure to give customers the confidence and performance they need for AI, Cloud and next gen services.”
