The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is a new, independent cloud for Europe, designed to help organisations meet stringent sovereignty and compliance needs. Colt’s Dedicated Cloud Access solutions provide a direct, private connection to the AWS Sovereign Cloud. Data sovereignty is high on the corporate agenda for 2026 and beyond. One study found 84% of European companies surveyed view data sovereignty as a strategic priority, with 70% saying its importance has increased significantly in the past one to two years – as regulatory requirements such as GDPR and the EU Data Act have tightened. Another study found concerns around data sovereignty are holding businesses back from cloud adoption, with 63% citing it as the biggest barrier to cloud adoption.
