Tokyo, Japan,  2021 – Colt Technology Services, a leading provider of agile, high bandwidth connectivity solutions, today announced that it is providing the connectivity for MC Digital Realty’s (MCDR) new Metro Connect service.

Colt is delivering the high quality, low latency, low cost and flexible connectivity that underpins MCDR’s new ‘Metro Connect’ service, which enables customers using data centers in central Tokyo and Osaka to easily connect to MCDR’s NRT10 and KIX11 data centres in other locations in Japan, including Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture via bandwidth from 100Mbps to 100Gbps.

According to the Digital Realty Data Gravity Index (DGx) report, after London, Tokyo is considered the world’s most data-intensive city. In addition, data transactions in Japan are expected to increase beyond those Europe and the United States, and Tokyo in particular is focused on the reconstruction of digital infrastructure using hybrid cloud. Customers of MCDR’s colocation product will use Metro Connect to connect directly to public cloud or internet service providers in such downtown data centers. The launch of MCDR’s new service comes in response to these trends, in order to support business transformation.

In addition to delivering the low-latency high-quality network services connectivity, one of the major advantages of partnering with Colt is its unparalleled global footprint, which will support MCDR’s strategic plans.

Mr. Bampo Tezuka, President and CEO of MC Digital Realty, said: “We believe our Metro Connect service, which is underpinned by Colt’s Dark Fiber service and one part of our Platform DIGITAL, can help customers use their digital infrastructure more flexibly, without being restricted by location. We will continue to enhance our Platform DIGITAL to provide the data center capabilities that supports our customers’ digital transformation.”

Masato Hoshino, Head of Asia and Representative Director & President of Japan, Colt Technology Services Co., Ltd, said: “Colt has been working closely with MC Digital Realty since its inception, and we are excited by the launch of Metro Connect, which connects its data centers across Japan to those downtown. In particular, those in Inzai City, Japan’s largest data center hub, which not only support the needs of major cloud and content providers, but also enterprises. By underpinning MCDR’s Metro Connect with our low-latency, high-quality Colt network services, we hope to support these companies’ data center needs and further contribute to the digital transformation of Japanese enterprises.”
