Madrid, Spain, 26 May 2026 – Colt Technology Services, the digital infrastructure company, today announced the successful completion of its owned fibre network in Zaragoza. This expansion marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to expand high‑performance digital infrastructure in strategic locations across Spain.
The project includes the rollout of 25 kilometres of fibre network across the city, enabling direct connectivity to 14 business and technology buildings. This new infrastructure provides organisations in Zaragoza with access to advanced connectivity services, delivering high speed, low latency and maximum reliability, designed to meet growing digital demands both now and in the future.
This investment reinforces Zaragoza’s position as a growing technology hub and supports the region’s ambitions in digital transformation, innovation and competitiveness.

A strategic international route: Zaragoza–Somport corridor to France
Beyond its local impact, Colt’s Zaragoza network plays a strategic role in international connectivity between Spain and France, via the cross-border route through the Somport Tunnel. Since 2023, Colt has been one of only three operators with direct capacity in this strategic corridor, and the only one with fully owned infrastructure in both countries. The route includes 9 km of fibre, reducing the effective distance between Madrid and Paris by up to 30%, significantly improving latency and overall network performance. This corridor provides a highly efficient alternative for organisations requiring mission‑critical communications, data centre interconnection, and high‑performance cloud services.

Continued expansion and consolidation across Northern Spain
Colt continues to expand and consolidate its footprint across Northern Spain, building on existing infrastructure in Bilbao and the surrounding metropolitan area. Current regional assets include:
- Connectivity to 21 buildings in service and 3 under deployment, including Bilbao Airport
- Strategic infrastructure such as the Marea cable landing station in Sopelana
- The Colt node in Basauri
- 86 active circuits
- More than 110 km of Colt fibre network
Over the past two years, Colt has connected 10 additional buildings and deployed approximately 5 km of new fibre, enhancing network reach and resilience.

Colt’s owned fibre across Zaragoza, Bilbao and key international routes is designed to deliver secure, flexible and scalable connectivity.
