Our cyber incident response

Published by Colt Technology Services on September 8, 2025

We’ve been a little quiet on our channels recently. Here’s why: In mid-August, we detected a cyber incident affecting one of our internal business support systems. We immediately and intentionally closed down some of our systems as a precaution. We reported the incident to the relevant authorities, and we consulted with leading cybersecurity experts who worked alongside our internal teams, day and night. We informed our customers, and true to our values, we communicated with transparency and integrity.

To be clear, the incident has been contained, and we have taken steps to remove the threat actor from our environment. Our systems are secure, with recovery and rebuilding firmly underway. Colt has been further enhancing our detection and response capabilities using the latest security tools and external experts’ advice. While some back-office and customer service systems remain offline, they are being restored with equal commitment to both speed and safety—ensuring progress with trust and confidence.

Sometimes there hasn’t been much to say and there have been questions that have taken time to answer, which we know is frustrating. But behind the scenes, our teams have been working at pace around the clock.

It’s been tough, but with strong and decisive leadership and a deep sense of pride at being part of our organisation, every Coltie in the business has come together. We have been – and will continue to be – laser focused on protecting and securing our customers and each other.

We know we’re not alone: around 7.5 million organisations have been impacted by a cyber security incident so far in 2025. The incident reaffirmed what we already knew: there is a lot of goodwill for Colt. Overwhelmingly, our customers have responded with kindness and empathy, and for that we are truly grateful.

Our global digital infrastructure remains unaffected, and we’ll continue to work on our business support systems as we progress steadily towards full restoration.

Thank you for your support and understanding – it means the world to us.
