The Colt bike ride changes the lives of vulnerable children across Europe and specifically here in the UK, those supported by Coram. As our UK charity partner, Coram is the nation’s oldest children’s charity. Working with the vulnerable from birth to independence, they help children get the best start in life.

Last year alone the bike ride raised over €100,000 for our in-region charity partners. For 3 years the ride has been growing in momentum so it is no surprise that this year is set to be bigger than ever. With 450km to complete, 90 riders, 20 support crew and well wishes from every Colt employee out there, this bike ride is like no other.

The Colt bike ride is the single largest Colt group CSR effort -with colleagues from almost every European Colt country taking part. Starting in Frankfurt our riders will have signed up for one of two routes. With 453km in 4 days the “road route” is no mean feat, but for those who are after more; our committee has thrown in some mountain peaks bringing the “daredevil route” to 529km – in the same time period, of course!

With all riders planning to cross the finish line in Zurich, this event encourages our employees to live the Colt value of ‘team work’ and at the same time support their local communities. But none of this would be possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Infinera, Paragon, ADE, Eaton Williams, EMC, Excaux, Gas & Com AG and Metnor, who share our commitment to supporting children in the cities where we live and/or work.

Our riders, support crew and committee will work tirelessly for the next 3 months to ensure that absolutely everything is covered. Organising a bike ride is one thing, organising one where colleagues need to courier their bikes across Europe, have access to GPS and all whilst being trailed by a support team carrying spares and medical supplies is certainly not for the faint hearted.

Working on a project like this helps to drive team spirit outside of the ‘normal work requirements’ of employees and helps to create a culture we at Colt are proud of. Having ridden for the last two years, Rob Field, Learning & Development Manager at Colt now forms part of the committee: “one of the main reasons to get involved is because this is a great event that does so much good. These things don’t happen by themselves so I thought I should get involved”.

Our offices all over Europe are engaged with activities to raise awareness and funds, all to better the lives of disadvantaged children. Each rider will be fundraising for the charity partner of their region. To show your support for the Colt bike ride and donate to Coram please visit our JustGiving page.
