Colt and Night Zookeeper hit three million words

Over the past year, we have been working with Night Zookeeper and are delighted at the progress we have made during this time.

Night Zookeeper is a world-leading literacy platform that emphasises creativity and self-expression, all while teaching children core English skills from the National Curriculum. To support Night Zookeeper, Colt sponsored annual licenses to the nightzookeeper.com platform so that classrooms across the UK could benefit from this digital learning asset. Colties also volunteer their time to give feedback on what those who use the program create.

As a result of this sponsorship, over three million words from more than 5,000 students have been published by the 135 Colt-sponsored schools; with a total of 9,923 pieces of feedback given by the 250 teachers involved.

Sally Derby, Year 4 Teacher at St Magdelen’s School, commented: “My students are enjoying writing, and they are more motivated to write. The leaderboard has helped with engagement as some students want to be top of the leaderboard with the highest number of words written. It has helped to generate really positive discussions about writing – children talk about each other’s writing and comment positively on the blog. It has also helped with the editing and improving the stage of writing as they help each other to spot errors and areas to develop within their writing.”

Speaking on how Night Zookeeper has impacted her children’s education, Natasha Jackson, a parent at Elm Park Primary School, said: “Night Zookeeper has had an amazing impact on my boys’ writing. They‘re on it all the time! I usually limit their screen time, but with something like this, I’m very happy to let them work into the evening. We’ve really seen a change in Arran and Jamie’s writing. I think it’s brilliant, thank you for bringing this to the school.”

We couldn’t be more thrilled to support Night Zookeeper, because it’s an organisation that uses technology to champion children to learn and grow and it’s also an organisation that our people can actively engage with to give back to the community. We can’t wait to see how Night Zookeeper continues to transform the education sector with technology.
