Colt bolsters data security with ISO standard

Colt has added the ISO 27701 to its certification portfolio, strengthening our commitment to data protection and security.

ISO 27701 acts as recognition of the maturity of a privacy and security framework, demonstrating our commitment to financial risk aversion, and gives customers peace of mind that Colt is complying with the strictest security protocol available.

This global standard provides the framework to demonstrate compliance with GDPR international privacy regulations and other global data privacy requirements.

The standards set rules and guidelines for businesses so that they can better manage risks related to the security data owned or handled by the company, and that their system respects best practices and principles promoted by the ISO.

The ISO 27701 data privacy extension supports the ISO 27001, a commitment that Colt already adheres to. The ISO 27701 outlines a framework for personally identifiable information (PII) and is the world’s best-known standard for privacy information management systems (PIMS). A company has to demonstrate a committed data privacy framework alongside already possessing the ISO 27001 standard to be eligible for the extension.

To be in line for the certification, Colt had to demonstrate a robust attitude towards data privacy. Each EEA country and India assigned a special person of contact (SPOC) in each business area, who received additional training and was internally audited by an independent body as well as by an external company that awarded Colt the certification.  The process took almost 12 months, and as a result, Colt is now one of the only digital infrastructure companies to have been granted the certification on a country-by-country basis.

The certifications are developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a panel of independent experts who set global standards that range from quality management to data protection. The organisation ensures consistency in the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services and systems across industries and nations.

Our latest ISO standard heavily supports our already existing binding corporate rules (BCR). If you would like to find out about our security solutions and services, contact our Sales team for more information.
