COLT connects gaming fans to the virtual world of AERIA Games

AERIA Games, a rapidly growing US-based provider of online free-to-play community games, has chosen COLT Managed Services as it expands into the European market. COLT is providing a security solution and ensuring optimal internet connectivity to support AERIA’s gaming applications.

The COLT solution offers outstanding flexibility that will enable AERIA Games to offer European gamers improved and secure access to its site – an imperative for its users – whilst also improving the cost effectiveness for AERIA.

As Nicolas Piot, Managing Director of the AERIA Games Europe GmbH, points out: “With our customer base in Europe increasing at such a rapid rate, we have decided to set up our own European branch from which to serve gamers on this side of the Atlantic. Thanks to the expertise it has accumulated in the IT and telecommunications consulting sector over many years, COLT has been able to develop a solution for us which meets our business and operational requirements precisely – and within an exceptionally short period of time. Since we are dependent on our games being available to users at all times, the ISO 27001 certification of the COLT data centers was one of the pivotal factors behind our decision.”

To make sure no time was lost in their expansion into Europe, AERIA Games was focused on keeping the project and implementation phases as short as possible. COLT met this requirement by using the professional project management skills within its team and once the order had been received, the solution was delivered within just three weeks. COLT’s scalable and international infrastructure provides the basis for AERIA’s future growth both in Germany and abroad. A number of follow-up projects have been agreed and will be implemented jointly.

Jan Lange, head of the SME Division of COLT in Germany, added: “The collaboration with AERIA Games clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of our core competencies in the online gaming sector. We develop IT and telecommunications solutions that satisfy the stringent performance and growth requirements of online gaming providers. For a new online game to achieve market acceptance and high usage levels, the chief prerequisites nowadays are stability and attractive platform access times. The implementation of customer requirements within a clearly defined timetable ensures not only speedy, reliable market entry for new games but also cost effective operations right from the outset.”
