Great things are done by bringing together a series of small things” – Vincent van Gogh
A company’s values define not what a company does, but how they do it. Done well, they show everyone – customers, partners, suppliers, and employees what the organisation believes in, how it behaves and what makes it different.
At Colt we’ve just announced our new values – it’s an evolution of our history and heritage and, most importantly, they were created and defined by our people – those that live and breathe our culture every day and the ones that make Colt, Colt.
Often a company’s values are developed at the executive level, meaning that sometimes the employees themselves don’t always connect with the values. We did things differently, following the approach we took with our strategy last year, learning from and listening to the people who live these values day in, day out. Over 1,000 people across Colt’s 23 country locations got involved through surveys and focus groups and we’re enormously proud of the results.
These values identify not only what we do, but how we do it. They’re not 10 commandments or rules that are written in a handbook. They are the essence of our identity and tell a story of who we are and how we’re delivering on our purpose and vision – to change the way the world works through the power of connectivity and to become the most customer-oriented business in our industry.
We know people matter
Whether it’s a customer, a partner, or an employee, we build relationships based on trust, honesty, respect, and integrity. We value diversity and strive to be more inclusive so everyone has the freedom to speak up, be heard and thrive.
We always find a better way
By staying one step ahead we empower our customers to succeed through the power of connectivity. We’re swift to adapt and take responsibility for the promises we make.
We win together
We believe in the power of many and stand shoulder to shoulder with customers, partners and colleagues collaborating on ideas, sharing risks and recognition among all. When we make a decision we understand it’s impact, and rally behind the decision to make it a success.
We can change the world
We want to make the world a better place. Better connected, more sustainable, fairer for all. We use what we have – passion, technology, and connectivity – to create good.
These values are what set us apart and we’re grateful to everyone who helped bring them together. Hopefully, you are already experiencing them in your interactions with us and seeing the difference it makes to you and your business.
