Colt commemorates the construction of metro area networks in Singapore and Hong Kong
Next-generation fibre expands Colt’s global IQ Network and serves high-bandwidth connectivity demand in Asia
Singapore and Hong Kong, 27 July 2017 – Colt has marked the expansion of its metro area network in Singapore, as well as the start of construction of the company’s newest metro area network in Hong Kong. This brings the total number of Colt metro area networks around the globe to 49 and continues the company’s strategy of providing high bandwidth and agile ondemand network services to the world’s top metropolitan markets with true end-to-end connectivity on the Colt IQ Network.
Once completed, Colt’s Singapore metro area network expansion will serve over 90% of Singapore’s enterprises with carrier-grade connectivity of up to 100G. Being a fibre network fully owned and managed by Colt, it will enable industry-leading network services with provisioning time and latency figures superior to its competitors. Similarly, Colt’s Hong Kong metro area network brings high-bandwidth capabilities to Hong-Kong based enterprises. SMEs and MNCs in a variety of industries will be able to connect to both domestic and global markets quickly and securely through a single provider via the Hong Kong metro area network and the global Colt IQ Network by extension.
Both projects were punctuated by private launch events held in each city. The events were attended by a large number of Colt’s customers, including major players in the finance, media, and ICT industries. Government dignitaries from both cities were also on-hand to witness the ceremonies. Colt CEO, Carl Grivner, delivered a keynote address at the Singapore event, stating, “Just a few short months ago, we made our intentions clear by announcing our investment plans here. We’re now making good on that promise, committing our funds, our technology, and our minds to spearheading the digital transformation of this region. I stand before you today, just a few meters from the inaugural construction site of our new metro area network, proud of the work of my colleagues that have worked so hard on this project and of the coming growth it represents, both for Colt and for all the companies that rely on our IQ Network to drive business forward.”
Both projects were announced earlier in the year as part of Colt’s commitment to Asia and part of a multi-million dollar global investment. With over €500 million dedicated to revamping network infrastructure, services, and customer-centric initiatives over the next three years, Colt has made clear its drive for long-term development. €200 million of that is earmarked for 2017 alone and is already making an impact through the recently unveiled Colt IQ Network, a nextgeneration global connectivity platform that features high-bandwidth and SDN/NFV capabilities to serve the cloud, IoT, big data, and other emerging data-intensive applications.
Colt aims to be the leader in enabling customers’ digital transformation through agile and on-demand, high bandwidth solutions. The Colt IQ Network connects over 800 data centres across Europe, Asia and North America’s largest business hubs, with over 25,000 on-net buildings and growing.
Colt has built its reputation on putting customers first. Customers include data intensive organisations spanning over 200 cities in nearly 30 countries. Colt is a recognised innovator and pioneer in software defined networks (SDN) and network function virtualisation (NFV). Privately owned, Colt is one of the most financially sound companies in its industry and able to provide the best customer experience at a competitive price.
