Colt offers its IP Access service for customers using Microsoft SaaS services

Colt complements Microsoft’s Azure Peering Service with end-to-end traffic prioritisation for Microsoft SaaS services, ensuring a seamless end-to-end customer experience.

London, UK, 20 May 2020Colt Technology Services has today announced enhanced integration with Microsoft by providing cloud-optimised, dedicated Internet connectivity for enterprises utilising Microsoft SaaS services, including Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365.

This announcement comes as Microsoft Azure Peering Service becomes generally available today. Colt is providing enhanced performance through end-to-end routing optimisation and flow prioritisation via its Cloud Prioritisation Service for IP Access.

Colt was one of the network service providers in Europe joining the launch of Microsoft’s Peering Service public preview in November 2019, and from today, Colt’s Cloud Prioritisation Service for IP Access is providing an elevated customer experience by ensuring that Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 flows are optimised end-to-end including the last mile, from all customer’s sites connected via Colt IP Access to Azure.

This enhanced integration sees end-to-end prioritisation between the customers’ branch site and Azure, which means users will benefit from trusted, high-performance connectivity with SLA guaranteed latencies even in the case of congestion at the last mile. Colt also guarantees that no data will go through any third-party IP network, other than Colt’s and Microsoft’s, which helps ensure the offering is secure.

Colt’s Cloud Prioritisation and IP Access offering is underpinned by the Colt IQ Network, which reaches 29,000 on net buildings and more than 900 data centres, serving more than 25,000 customers globally. Colt’s fully-owned and operated dense fibre network allows enterprises to benefit from an end-to-end, seamless connection to the cloud.

Colt’s Vice President Product Portfolio, Peter Coppens said, “Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams are used on a daily basis by business users as their primary method of communication and collaboration. We know the power these tools bring to businesses, and the enhanced integration between Colt and Microsoft further strengthens their customer experience in a meaningful way.

“In order to truly benefit from the cloud and all it has to offer, having the right connectivity is a critical and often overlooked element. It’s for this reason we are constantly focusing on further improving cloud connectivity to make it smarter, simpler and more secure to really enable organisations to thrive,” Peter continued.

Jeff Cohen, GM, Microsoft Azure at Microsoft Corp. said, “Colt has been a Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute partner providing on-demand and dedicated connectivity to Azure. We are pleased to expand our relationship with Colt as we announce the general availability of Azure Peering Service.”

Colt is a Gold Partner of Microsoft and has been an Azure Express Route partner since 2014, providing secure, reliable and real-time access to Azure. With the addition of Colt Cloud Prioritisation, enterprises can now also benefit from a market-leading experience for their Microsoft SaaS applications.

Cloud Prioritization is available in Europe immediately and in Asia before Summer 2020.
