Colt was recently recognised for its technology innovation and both retail and wholesale offerings, with a total of eight wins at the prestigious MEF 2017 Awards in Orlando, Florida. This is the thirteenth consecutive year that Colt has been recognised at the MEF awards ceremony.
The awards programme of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) is the world’s largest and longest running programme focused specifically on high-performance Carrier Ethernet and emerging Third Network connectivity and cloud services powered by LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration), NFV (Network Functions Virtualisation), SDN (Software Defined Networking) and CE 2.0 networking technologies.
As a company that has invested heavily in a high bandwidth connectivity focus and in delivering the capability to meet the growing demand for bandwidth across all business sectors, we are honoured to be recognised for our continued leadership in developing advanced Ethernet and next generation services based on SDN and NFV. Colt has invested heavily in the Colt IQ Network to deliver high bandwidth connectivity to the global market, with direct access to key buildings and data centre locations in Europe, Asia Pacific and the US. Colt IQ Network enables the delivery of a wide range of optical, Ethernet and IP services with bandwidth ranging from 1Gbps to up to 200Gbps.
The MEF awards are the latest accolades to show how Colt’s On Demand services are transforming the user experience by improving self-service capabilities and giving customers the option to choose per-hour pricing plans, or fixed term contract durations.
While Colt’s SD WAN proposition extends the IP VPN service with an entirely software based solution. This allows for seamless support of multiple access technologies (MPLS, Internet), dynamic path selection based on customer configuration and value added services activation, all controlled by the customer through a portal in real-time.
Colt has also been working with a number of other service providers and vendors in an open forum to define and standardise business level APIs which allow service providers to work with one another’s SDN architectures in near real-time and enables orchestrated on demand services over fully automated and interconnected networks. Colt shared the Proof of Concept Gold Award for its Service on Demand PoC for Global Virtual Inter-Carrier Fabric Orchestrated by LSO APIs with Open-Source Framework.
