Unleashing possibility at the Gartner IT Symposium 2023

By Mirko Voltolini, Vice President of Strategy & Innovation

The Gartner IT Symposium is one of Europe’s biggest gatherings of CIOs and IT executives, and I have the pleasure of joining the team representing Colt at this year’s event. The event boasts thousands of attendees who come together to discuss the future of technology over four days, hosted in Barcelona.

The event’s theme this year is ‘unleash possibility’, which I’m sure you’ll agree is filled with potential conversation starters.

There’s no avoiding the role artificial intelligence (AI) will play in the future of technology. From sustainability efforts to smart manufacturing, machine learning, robotic process automation (RPA) and AI are set to improve efficiency, reduce costs and simplify our working processes. Data-driven decision-making is here to stay.

Where the future faces

From speaking to customers, it seems like every business is either already on its intelligent infrastructure journey, or they’re just about to embark on it. Our recent Intelligent Digital Infrastructure Report found that 92% of businesses say they have already invested in or plan to invest in their infrastructure in the next 12 months, and that’s a long time in the world of technology.

Most businesses’ end goal is to become digitally autonomous and self-optimising, fully embracing the cloud-first, consumption-based model for networking.

These features enable businesses to truly stay in control of their network, allowing them to monitor and manage everything from analysis and performance to emissions and maintenance. If digital infrastructure is the platform businesses need to build upon, AI is the material that builds intelligence into its foundations. As Robin Farnan, our EVP of Operations & Engineering said at our recent Analyst Day, “The network enables AI, and AI enables the network.”

Smart Solutions

Our Innovations team continuously work on future-facing concepts for Colt and our customers. I’ll keep my explanations brief because it would be great to speak to you in person at the event, but you can watch a short video on Colt’s innovations that we recorded in September 2023 if you’d like to find out more.

Beyond these exciting projects, Colt’s AI-focused product offering is focusing on security, as well as refining our ESG credentials with intent-based networking. One of our latest solutions, thanks to AI, can work out the connection route with the lowest emissions, its ‘greenest path’, producing a more sustainable connection for both the customer and the planet.

I’m joined in Barcelona with Colt experts in security, ESG and many other teams from the 6th of November until the 9th. If you’d like to speak to any of us face-to-face, you can book a meeting by heading to our dedicated Gartner Xpo landing page.

I hope to see you there.
